You've waited all year, and finally it's here! The annual GMTK jam just started and now it's a race against the clock to make something worthy of making it into this year's wrap up video!

Design, program, and art up a brand new game for the jam,  but make sure you don't neglect your health or you might pass out and lose valuable time!

Will you come out on top in this meta resource management game?

This year's theme for the jam was "Roles Reversed", which I chose to use by reversing YOUR role. Instead of judging a game from the jam, you'll be making one! (Not actually but still).

Here's a tip for all of you who read this description as thanks - Any time you need to wait for something, try switching over to another app to get other work done in the meantime. Progress will still be made without you, just don't forget to check back to see how it went!

How to Play
Use the various programs on your PC to increase the four scores that represent how complete your game is!

Type on your keyboard when an app is open to start working on your game!

Design - You can't work without a design, so make sure to keep your design score high enough that you have room to work on your programming, art, and audio. Watch out, if you let your design stay too high above the rest of your content, players will notice that you overscoped your project!

Coding - Type in your programming apps to increase your untested code score, and then run a code test to lock in that progress! The more you program without testing, the higher the chance your code will have errors, so make sure you test often enough to not get caught off guard.

Art - Use your 2D or 3D art apps to produce art for your game! If you make 3D art, it will also give you a backlog of 2D art to create. If you forget to finish that backlog, your players will notice your 3D art is unfinished!

Audio - Stick with the cheap software to make your audio, or buy the premium app to speed up production significantly!

Controls

Use your mouse to navigate the various apps on your computer. It's just like the real thing!

Some apps on your computer require you to type, so just mash away at your keyboard to write that code, build out your design document, or scratch together the best art you can!

Apps

  • Dischat - Use this app to beg for money from your friends! Type to send them a message, and if you're lucky they'll send you some when they reply!
  • YouEngine - This game engine is a safe way to design and code at the same time! Each bar goes up slower than normal though.
  • Internet - Come here to waste some time on OurTube, or buy some Premium Apps for your PC!
  • DoorCrash - This is cut content! Only open it if you've got time to kill.
  • Notes - Type out your thoughts to design more of your game! It's a good idea to stop by here first, since you can't work without a design to reference!
  • MyDE - Use this app to make and test the source code for your game! The longer you program without testing your code, the more likely it will be buggy, so test early and test often!
  • Palette 2D - Make 2D art, or create textures for your 3D art here! Make sure not to forget those textures or the judges might not forgive you!
  • Audio City - Here is where you can make sounds for your game! Audio can tie a project together so don't forget it!
  • DesAIgn - Use this PREMIUM APP to design your game with the power of AI! Just don't forget that only about half of it's ideas are even remotely usable!
  • Autocode - Use this PREMIUM APP to increase your productivity 100%! Code faster than ever before, but don't let it get in the way of your tests, because Autocode can't debug for you!
  • Bender 3D - Use this PREMIUM APP to make 3D models for your game and wow the crowd! Just don't forget to make the 2D textures to finish the job!
  • MuSICK - Use this PREMIUM APP to make your game's epic soundtrack!
